Hey there!

I'm a vegan teen on a mission to share the world in harmony with animals while balancing normal, stressful high school life. My posts will prove to anyone how changing simple little daily things can have a big impact on your community and family! I'm not a crazy little ritzy hippy chick trying to convert everyone reading this to become a salad nibbler that will live forever- no. Instead I bring you neat ideas, recipes, and challenges. I want to hear what you think too! Leave comments and share the word!

Vegancuts Beauty Box Subscription!

Late September I took the SAT, worked my booty off applying for scholarships, prepping for marching contest (it's a really big deal in band nerd world), and school has almost consumed my Senior life. It's like Junior year the parents nag about how you don't get out of the house often enough. Senior year they beg you to sit down and talk to them before you leave for another three days! Ay, caramba! I found the perfect prescription for all this mental agony-- a monthly beauty box subscription.

The company is called VeganCuts... yes they have food boxes too! Everything in them is vegan, cruelty free (the box says 'No bunny was harmed in the making of this box'), and it's fun! Just don't look at Instagram the day the boxes ship. Other people can be real killjoys sometimes by posting their surprise box all over the homepage. HASHTAG SADFACE!

Anyway, $20 a month gets you more that $40 worth of beauty supplies in each little shipment. Most of the products are made right in the States and contain lots of organic ingredients. I'm not a freak about all the 100% organic eco-friendly-only hype going around, but what harm can being a little conscious do? They theme their boxes accoriding to seasons/holidays- October had lotions, exfoliators, essential oil serum, and fall-themed nail polishes!
They try to mix in full-sized products with samples, which is super useful. The smaller sizes are great so you don't have to waste the unappealing things (I don't really need a giant tube of wrinkle cream yet, do I?) while you get a few months' worth out of the good stuff- like nail polish...squee!

I wanna share this month's products with you!
  • Lovinah Coffee Bean-illa body scrub. It smells just like Starbucks smooshed into an adorable little container. I haven't used it just yet but I think it's going to be my Hypo (...Star Trek term. Deal with it ;)...) after a rough day.
  • Hylunia moisturizing creams. No fragrance. No greasy feel. Not much fun either. I feel like these things would be really awesome for individuals nearing their third 21st birthday... if you get what I'm saying. Or maybe I just got a few misfit samples? I don't know. They remind me of complementary hotel lotions- those thingies we all sweep into our luggage by the handful from the bathroom counter.
  • Floss Gloss nail polish. Mine was a deep wine red called Picnic. The company is based in California and sells 3-free nail lacquers. Ashlie, what's 4-free mean? Thanks for asking! It means no harsh formaldehyde, DBP, and toluene chemicals are going on your beautiful nails or skin. I must say, my toes are very happy with this brand!
  • Lotus Wei elixirs are my favorite product out of this box! There is a series of 6 main serums containing different essential oils. I got pure energy made of grapefruit, pomegranate, coffee, and cinnamon main scents. It's not a perfume, so you don't smell them all day. It's a kind of aromatherapy thing. Not sure if it's the placebo effect or not but I do feel happier after I put it on. Is aromatherapy tried-and-true or trash? Let me know in the comments! Either way- I really wasn't expecting that in a beauty box and it was a nice touch.
Overall, October's subscription box was a fun surprise, even though I peeked on Instagram before opening.Check out VeganCuts.com to shop for these products or subscribe for your own box. It's worth a visit!

    Dangit jim, i'm a

Vegan gal (obsessed with Star Trek- in case you haven't bothered to glimpse at the screen yet) working through High School and enjoying the roller coaster ride of life. Sure, it's hard living in a small southern city that serves mac & cheese as the only vegetable on the menu. But I'm making it work and I want to help others enjoy the compassionate version of the world too.
